Topic: Mark 14:32-35
“The Bible goes on to tell that He returned to verse 40 and ‘found His disciples asleep again for their eyes were heavy, and they did not know where to answer Him. And He came to them a third time and said, Sleep on for the hour of My betrayal is at hand.’ Every person in this room has as much or as little of God as you want right now. The treasury of Heaven is opened to the person who will go a little further.
World champion athletes are the people who train a little harder and go a little further. The people who reach their objectives are the people who go a little further. The night Jesus was in the Garden of Gesthemane, the destiny of the spiritual world was held in balance. Many people didn't even know He was there. Judas knew He was there, but Judas had a financial agenda to receive from Christ in betrayal.
Jesus took the 12 with Him to the garden. Now remember, they had just come from Passover, and they were full of food, and it was late at night, and they went to sleep. The only time that Jesus is ever recorded of asking someone to pray with Him, His only hour of need, they all went to sleep. But He was looking for someone who would go a little further.
And let's conclude this with this one sentence. If you will go a little further with God in prayer, you will experience only what angels experienced in the presence of Jesus because when Jesus prayed, the angels of God came and ministered to Him. There was no disciple there to see it because they were asleep. They didn't go a little further. They surrendered to the carnality of their flesh and to the lack of discipline to push and to meet the need of the Master. They missed the moment when angels came, and the victory was won.
To each of us in this building today God has given us unlimited opportunities where we are right now as a people and as a church. Let's go a little further that we can accomplish what has never been accomplished before in Jesus' name.
May the Lord add His blessing to the reading of the Word.”
