Topic: Ephesians 5:15-17
Television ads urge people to live in the moment - to grasp instant gratification without considering consequences. This is the way Satan wants believers to think. He hopes we'll enjoy sin's passing pleasure so much that we wander far from God. But when we think about the right course of action for our life, we not only disappoint Satan; we gain the Lord's best. Today, let's look at three more questions we can ask when seeking assurance of God's will.
Does this decision fit who I am in Christ? Anything that harms the body or mind is not acceptable for Christians. A prayer warrior who eats badly is subject to God's natural law: poor diet results in poor health. Our attitudes, relationships, and actions tell the world to whom we belong.
Does this decision honor God? The best way for us to honor the Lord is through our obedience. Any action taken by a believer should reflect Him. What's more, we want our choices - both large and small - to acknowledge that God is the master of our life.
Now that I know His will, am I willing to act? After Scripture reading, prayer, and thoughtful contemplation, we can be sure of the Lord's plan. Occasionally, even when we are confident of the path, we might wonder how following God will affect us. He understands this; that's why He promised, "For I know the plans I have for you ... plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) When we are inside the heavenly Father's will, we cannot lose.
Are there any decisions in your life that you've been putting off because you've been "waiting for God"? Could you make a properly, God-honoring decision right now by following these principles?
