HE KNEW
Mood:  silly
Franklin Graham reminds us that Jesus Christ knows all about us:

Before Nicodemus could even pay Jesus a compliment, Jesus could read his mind. He could look right into Nicodemus’ heart; He knew exactly what Nicodemus was thinking. And that’s the way it is with you. Every one of you, Jesus Christ sees right into your heart. He sees right into your mind. He knows exactly what your problems are; He knows exactly what you’re thinking. And Jesus looked at this religious man, this man of great stature, this man of great learning, this man that had such respect in the community. And Jesus looks at him and He says, “Nicodemus, you must be born again.”

Just like Nicodemus, you need to be born again. We’re the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. For a free booklet about what it means to be born again and to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, call us toll-free at 1-866-JESUS-CARES or visit billygraham.org.

SALVATION: THE WORK OF OUR SOVEREIGN GOD
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Ephesians 2:1 - 10
Salvation refers to the freedom gained when God rescues a person from slavery to sin and makes him or her part of His family. This deliverance is accomplished only through His Son Jesus, who died in our place so we might be reconciled to the Father. (Colossians 1:22) This statement often evokes questions:

1. What if I try to live morally right, working hard at my job and being good to my family - won't God accept me? Such questions assume that the Lord saves us on the basis of the way we live. But Romans 3:10 says, "There is none righteous, not even one." In God's sight, even our righteous acts are like dirty rags. (Isaiah 64:6 NIV) Holy God will not have dealings with unrighteous people apart from Jesus Christ.

2. Won't the Lord accept us because of His goodness? God is loving and good, but He is also just. He won't overlook sin, no matter how small we think it is. Pride makes us reject the idea that we need forgiveness or cleansing from sin.

3. If we serve in our church or help the poor in God's name, aren't we part of His family? Good works do not solve our sin problem or reconcile us to God. Only Jesus does. (Romans 5:1) Good works are an important result of salvation, not a basis for it.

Salvation is a work of God's grace, not the product of man's effort. When we respond to the Spirit's prompting, believe in Jesus, and are born again as God's children (John 3:3),we can be assured of our place in heaven. How sure are you?

THE IMPACT OF PRAYER
Mood:  hug me
Topic: John 17:20 - 26
God has COMPLETE authority over ALL people and events. He knows the hearts of men, how they will act, and what steps to take to accomplish His purposes. At the same time, He calls us to pray.

Colossians 4:2 says we are to be devoted to prayer. In fact, communication with God is so vital that we are told to pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Continuous listening, talking, and relating to our heavenly Father should characterize our lives. The Scriptures explain why this is so important:

Prayer changes us. As we seek God's face and spend time in His Word, we will be transformed. Our desires will be replaced by His, and our thinking will align more closely with His thoughts. As our understanding of His character grows, we will have a better idea of how to pray in accordance with His will.

God answers prayer. (James 5:16) God has promised to listen and respond to the prayers of His children. (Isaiah 65:24) He assures us that He will act when our petitions are in Jesus' name - that is, matching His will and His timing. (John 14:13)

Prayer invites God to act. Prayer doesn't alter any of God's divine purposes or plans; nor does it cause Him to change His mind. What He has decided will occur, and His decisions will be exactly the right ones to accomplish His will. Our prayers are powerful when, without reservation, we invite God to do His work in our lives and the lives of others.

What impact does prayer have? It allows an inadequate people to connect with an all - sufficient God. Hallelujah!

PRAYING TO OUR SOVEREIGN GOD
Mood:  hug me
Topic: John 17:1-12
Prayer is the heartbeat of the believer's walk with God. But we sometimes wonder what kind of influence prayer really has. We ask:

1. If the Lord controls all things, why does He want us to pray? God desires to involve His children in the work He is doing; through prayer, we can be part of His plans and purposes. Praying regularly also helps us maintain a sense of dependence upon our Father and leads to a deepening intimacy with Him. Furthermore, God desires to bring us into agreement with His will. The more our plans line up with His, the more He is able to accomplish in and through our life. In addition, He knows that answered prayer will grow our faith.

2.Would God's plans fail if we chose not to pray? God is not subservient to us, so His plans are contingent only upon Himself. He works all things after the counsel of His will, not according to our prayers. However, He prompts us to communicate in order to include us in His eternal purposes.

3. Does my failure to pray affect my life or anyone else's? According to Scripture, some things that God has planned to give will be received only if we ask Him.(James 4:2) For example, Jesus did not perform many miracles in His hometown because so few people had the faith to ask.(Matthew 13:57 - 58)

Jesus' actions illustrate the place prayer ought to have in the believer's life. Knowing that God was in perfect control of all things, He consistently went to the heavenly Father in prayer. Will you seek to follow Jesus' example?

RESPONSE OF GOD TO SINFUL BEHAVIOR
Mood:  lazy
Topic: Genesis 20:1 - 16
Despite appearances, evil men are not in control of our world; GOD IS. How does our sovereign God respond to sin?

At times He allows sin to run its full course. After the Exodus, He promised Israel abundant blessings if they were obedient. (Psalm 81:10) When they persistently disobeyed, He "gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart" (Psalm 81:12). God remained in control but chose to let the nation experience the consequences of continued rebellion. He deals with individuals the same way. (Romans 1:24, 28) Apart from Jesus Christ, the end result of sin is eternal death. (Romans 3:23)

At other times, God stops the sinful behavior completely. When Abraham lied about Sarah being his wife, the king of Gerar brought her into his household for himself. Abraham's lie - "she is my sister" - put the king at risk. God intervened and prevented any further sinful action from taking place. For believers, God limits the intensity, scope, and time we have to deal with a particular temptation. (1 Corinthians 10:13) For those who have rejected Jesus Christ, there is no such promise.

To believe God is sovereign, we must embrace certain truths: His thoughts and ways are superior to ours (Isaiah 55:8 -  9); He always keeps His promises (2 Corinthians 1:20); His perfect character is unchanging (James 1:17); He has control over everything, including times of blessing and disaster. (Isaiah 45:7)

The next time you are confronted with the effects of sin, remember these important truths, and look to God with trusting faith.

SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD AND THE EXISTENCE OF EVIL
Mood:  chatty
Topic: Genesis 2:7 - 3:24
Throughout the Bible, we see evidence of God's authority over both humanity and nature. However, we have trouble reconciling God's sovereign control with the existence of evil. What does Scripture tell us?

In the beginning, God created a perfect world, in which He declared that all He had made was good. (Genesis 1:31) Wickedness was not part of what He had fashioned. In the heavens, however, an angel known as Satan sought to elevate himself above God and was cast down to earth. (Isaiah 14:12)

God created Adam and Eve in His image. They were made with the capacity to love their Creator and the ability to choose to obey or disobey Him. God had no desire for Adam and Eve to sin (James 1:13), but He allowed their wills to be tested. We know the rest of the story. When they disobeyed God, sin entered our world and corrupted mankind. As Adam and Eve's descendants, we inherited the "flesh" nature. (Romans 5:12)

The Lord's permissive will allowed events to unfold as they have. God did not create evil, but He has permitted it to exist and uses it to accomplish His good purposes. (Isaiah 45:6 - 7)

When you have questions or doubts about God's sovereignty, start with what you do understand, study what God has revealed about Himself and His ways, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you believe. A few answers to your questions will come quickly, while some will require diligent study and spiritual maturity. For others, which God has chosen to keep hidden (Deuteronomy 29:29), we are to walk by faith.

PRAISING THE LAMB OF GOD
Mood:  amorous
Topic: Revelation 1:1 - 3; 5
God has promised a special blessing to those who read His book of prophecy, Revelation. However, this may be one of the least read books in the Bible.

Many people are intimidated by its difficult imagery or by the judgments recorded in Revelation. They don't realize that the book also is worshipful and celebratory. The books of Psalm and Revelation are perhaps the two most praise - filled books in the Bible. The fifth chapter of Revelation records one of the most intense worship experiences that ever will occur.

True worship honors God, and it is not based on emotion or feeling. The main motivations for our praising and adoring God are who He is, what He has done, and what He is going to do. This has nothing to do with pursuit of a spiritual high; in fact, such a pursuit takes one's focus away from God.

Always make sure your worship is focused on Christ as you praise and adore only Him. This quite naturally can bring some fitting emotion.

Yet we should worship God without selfish motives, without seeking to be noticed or considered "super - spiritual." We should worship Him because we recognize His worthiness to receive praise.

It also honors God when we examine the worshipful passages of Revelation and seek to commit them to memory. Then we'll already have a headstart by knowing the words.

SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD BRINGS US ASSURANCE
Mood:  amorous
Topic: Romans 8:28
Since eternity past and throughout the entire history of man, almighty God has ruled with supreme authority. Nothing is hidden from His knowledge or beyond the scope of His control. Because of His sovereignty, we who by faith in Christ are part of His family can live with the assurance that:

God works for our good. Scripture declares that God has the power to work every circumstance in our life into something that is beneficial in His eyes. He has the knowledge and power to accomplish it, as well as the desire. God promises to do this for those who love and belong to Him. Our part is to believe.

God protects us every day. His Word declares that "the angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him" (Psalm 34:7). Nothing can touch God's children apart from His permissive will. When God allows painful things to happen, we must trust in His unchanging nature and enduring promises. Circumstances and people change, but His good and loving character does not.

God has control over our future. He has a plan fully worked out for the body of Christ and each of its members - a plan so good that it is beyond imagining. (1 Corinthians 2:9) We can entrust our future to God because His character and plans are perfect.

Resting in the Lord's sovereignty will free us from fear and anxiety. If you lack assurance about any of these points, confess your unbelief to the heavenly Father. Ask His forgiveness, commit to meditating on His character and promises, and experience the strengthening of your faith.

DO YOU PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!
Mood:  hug me
"Don't be anxious about anything but pray about everything" (Philippians 4:5).

Our aviation company was rebuilding an airplane. It was a big job! It would take several months and the parts required would be numerous. I phoned the parts company and opened a Purchase Order for the project. It would remain open until the job was done. The parts could be picked up without delay as the crew needed them on a daily basis.

I try to do the same thing with my prayers. God's Word, the Bible, says, "Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests" (Ephesians 6:18). and "Don't be anxious about anything but pray about everything" (Philippians 4:5).

It can be a little overwhelming to think we are being asked to pray all day!! Here's what I do. If I have a situation, a need, an issue, or a question that I know I really need God's input on, I simply open a Purchase Order with God. I go to Him in prayer and tell Him my situation, maybe I need to have His help handling my finances, or perhaps it is with my teenager who is responding to me with icicles and I don't know what to do. Whatever it is I lay it out before God and tell Him I am opening a Purchase Order and I need to daily obtain wisdom and understanding from Him on this matter.

Constant Prayer? You Gotta Be Kidding!

Then, as I go about my days I am conscious of His Spirit's input into my life. It may be an article in a magazine that sheds some light, a discussion with a friend, a verse from the Scriptures or an unusual communication opportunity with my teen. As I go about my days I am aware of God imputing the answer to my query step by step. Sometimes I am not quite sure how the particular piece of information I have just received fits into the whole picture, but I know it will and I breathe out a "Thank you God, I know you are hearing and answering me. Continue to guide me". And the pieces begin to fit together as the divine hand of God becomes evident.

In the early stages of rebuilding the aircraft you might not have even recognized the project as an aircraft. As time goes on and big parts and little pieces come together it becomes visible. The open Purchase Order keeps the project moving forward without delay.

This process of keeping an open Purchase Order with God on the projects in my life enables me to keep my heart bent toward Him as I struggle through the stages of progress. It keeps me aware of His hand in each situation as I actively look for the parts and pieces He is supplying to me. I am more keenly aware of His provision even in the bits and pieces of life when it feels like the project I need His help on is lying all over the floor. As the process unfolds in my life I continue to breath out "help me, show me". Then, as I acknowledge the things He sends my way in answer, I breathe "Thank you God" .

And the process of prayer becomes not a burden that I should be doing but rather a gift I get to participate in; an asking and receiving that makes me so aware of His hand in my life. Is there a situation in your life that is a rebuild project? Don't be overwhelmed or discouraged by it. Simply open a Purchase Order with God, watch for His supply, thank Him as you get the bits and pieces and over time you will see the Divine Hand of God make something beautiful.

JESUS - GOD'S PERFECT GIFT
Mood:  amorous
Topic: Romans 5:6 - 21
Jesus is God's precious and perfect gift to us. Heaven sent, the present was willingly given at great cost because we were in desperate need. God fashioned a gift that is:

Universal and Personal. The Father offers salvation through Jesus to the whole world, one person at a time. (John 3:16) Whoever receives Him discovers His unlimited worth.

Preventive. When Jesus becomes our personal Savior, we are granted forgiveness and are set free from condemnation for our sin. (Romans 8:1) This divine gift prevents us from having to face eternal death, which would mean permanent separation from God.

Eternal. What Jesus brings us lasts forever. From the day of salvation, Christ's Spirit indwells us and remains with us. As permanent members of God's family, we have an inheritance in heaven that can neither spoil nor perish. (1 Peter 1:3 - 5)

Full of Love. Unconditional love motivated the Father to sacrifice His Son in our place. Not a single one of us deserved it. At some point, we have all sinned (Romans 3:10) - that is, we have turned away from God to follow our own desires. In spite of who we are, God set His affection on us and proved it through the life and death of His Son Jesus. His love rescues us from bondage to sin and transforms us into the people He designed us to be.

If you have not accepted God's offer of salvation through Jesus, today can become your spiritual birthday. If you already belong to God's family, you know the value of the present. Won't you tell someone today about this marvelous gift?

OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST
Mood:  chatty
Topic: Hebrews 7:26 - 27
When you are convicted of a particular sin, how do you react? Do you mourn over the matter? Do you think about it with great regret for days? Does it impact the way you go about your life?

Many Christians are completely undone when the moment of conviction comes. They act as though God's desire is for them to continually wallow in guilt for the rest of their lives. This could not be further from the truth.

We saw yesterday that the Old Testament sacrifices had to be repeated over and over. Why? Because those animal offerings were only a substitute for what was truly required - a completely perfect sacrifice. This was accomplished in the work of Jesus Christ. He presented Himself as the once - for - all atoning sacrifice for every sin of every individual who ever had or ever would live. As the hymn lyrics state, Jesus - through His one incredible sacrifice - truly "paid it all."

Think about it. In the human system, a high priest took an animal into the temple and offered it as a sacrifice to God on behalf of the sinner. In Christ's work, however, the Son of God entered not a temple, but heaven itself, and presented Himself to the Father as the perfect atoning sacrifice. (Hebrews 9:14)

This means that the work of forgiveness is done. If you are in Christ, then the sacrifice has already been paid for your sin. So, when the Holy Spirit brings conviction, deal with the matter immediately and then move on. Do not carry a yoke of unforgiveness that Jesus has already lifted from your shoulders.

THE NEED FOR A SACRIFICE
Mood:  flirty
Topic: Hebrews 10:1- 4
Have you ever read about animal sacrifice in the Old Testament and wondered what it was for? Hebrews 10:1-4 describes God's purpose for the sacrificial system. He gave His law as a foreshadowing of a future life of glory. In essence, He was saying, "If you live the way I'm telling you to live, then you will have a rich, abundant life of blessing." However, the law itself was not the way to this full life; it was only a shadow.

In that system, people had to offer animal sacrifices to God regularly in atonement for their sins. The Bible clearly attests that the only payment for sin is death. (Romans 6:23) However, in His grace, God allowed people to offer animal sacrifices as a substitute - He accepted the blood of animals as a payment for the massive sin - debt. However, it was only a temporary solution and therefore had to be repeated annually.

In order for mankind to be eternally freed from the guilt of sin, a completely pure sacrifice was required. What's more, the acceptable once - for - all sacrifice could not be an animal; after all, the guilt belonged to man. Therefore, a perfect and sinless man was needed, and yet, this was impossible. What were we to do?

Only man should have paid the price, but only God could have done so. As a result, the one possible solution was Jesus Christ, wholly God and wholly man. Unlike the blood of bulls, the blood of Christ was indeed sufficient.

It is by the blood of Christ alone that we are saved. Have you thanked Him lately for the sacrifice that He made on your behalf?

GIFT OF FORGIVENESS
Mood:  hug me
Topic: Ephesians 4:29 - 32
When we yield to temptation, one of the first things we wonder is if God will continue to love us. Knowing that He is still extending His forgiveness to us brings comfort and reassurance. Forgiveness is the cornerstone to the message of salvation. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us so that we might have eternal forgiveness. (John 3:16)

Through His life and death, Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves: He forgave all our sin - past, present, and future. Once the cleansing blood of Christ is applied to our lives, then sin's stain is removed. The same is true for all who continue to come to the Lord.

God's forgiveness requires two elements: sin that needs forgiving and Someone who will forgive the offender. Jesus is your advocate before the Father. (1 John 2:1)

When the enemy accuses you of wrong doing, Jesus steps forward and proclaims His faithful, eternal love for you.

There is nothing you can do that is beyond His ability to forgive. He knows all about you life - all your failures and heartaches - and still he chooses to love you. Once His forgiveness is installed, He restores your life and brings hope to every area.

There is no power on earth or in heaven stronger than His love for you. In this you can rejoice!

YOUR CHOICE
Mood:  amorous
A soft answer turns away anger but harsh words stir it up" (Proverbs. 15:1)

I really wanted to give him a piece of my mind! Nearly every time I encountered this fellow at work it was like rubbing up against sandpaper!! I came away feeling agitated and annoyed...it could rob me of a good bit of my peace of mind for the day if I let it.

I realized that the reaction I let this person evoke in me actually gave him power over a portion of my day as I allowed agitation to take control in my spirit. I decided to consciously choose God's way in my reaction and see what the difference would be.

Learning to walk in God's ways, by the power of the Holy Spirit, opened my eyes to a new kind of response. I read this verse from God's instruction book, The Bible, "A soft answer turns away anger but harsh words stir it up" (Prov. 15:1). So I tried it. When I knew I would be encountering this particular gentleman, I prayed a quick prayer and asked God to fill me afresh with His Spirit and to give me a gentle response rather than the quick retort that was usually on my tongue. His Spirit gave me a soft answer that did not bite at his sarcastic remarks.

I returned to my office realizing afresh the truth and the power of God's Word...responding God's way defused the anger that would usually stir up within me. What freedom! That little experiment set me on a track of understanding that the Holy Spirit can indeed walk with me in the nitty - gritty of life. He is there for the little trials of life as well as the big stuff.

It is only His power that can help us change our responses to irritations that sneak in and rob us of our joy in the daily course of life. It is a daily choice... an hourly choice...and even a moment by moment choice to choose the help of the Holy Spirit. Choosing God's way to respond in God's power brings a freedom to our spirit that is unequalled by any momentary satisfaction of a well - aimed retort.

Wherever harsh words are the norm in your life, invite the Spirit of God to help you respond in His power and watch the freedom that comes into your own soul. Every day in every situation of irritation you have the opportunity to "choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve" (Joshua 24:15). Making the choice is your part. Imparting power and strength is His part! Change your irritation to an invitation and watch God work!

THE PROMISE OF HEAVEN
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: John 14:2 - 4
Think about the last time you had a houseguest. Did you do anything special to prepare for his arrival? Perhaps you dusted the furniture, cleaned the rugs, mopped the floors, and so on. Or, maybe you planned a scrumptious menu and purchased unusual ingredients at the supermarket. Some people are even known for painting their houses or performing minor household repairs before a guest arrives. In fact, most homes are probably in their best shape when company is expected!

We usually want our visitors to feel at home the moment they walk in the door. In John 14, Jesus reveals that He is making preparations for us in His Father's house - heaven. Can you imagine that? Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Universe, is going out of His way to prepare a special place in heaven just for you.

He probably has the furniture in place, the pictures straightened, and the table set, all waiting for you. He's excited about your arrival! What will heaven be like? The truth is, we'll never truly know until we get there. However, you can be sure it's an actual place. Remember, Jesus likened it to a "house." He said He was going to "make preparations." Does that sound like some cloudy, ethereal, formless existence? No!

According to the Lord, heaven is an actual destination, someplace where you'll experience the absolute best of everything. And since Jesus Christ is preparing it for you, you can trust that it will be perfect. He can do nothing less.

THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT
Mood:  hug me
Topic: John 8:1 - 11
An affliction is a crushing pressure that threatens to destroy us. Our health, peace of mind, or relationships could be in danger from the hardship. We know God will comfort us when we are sick. But, will He be there when we bring the affliction upon ourselves by our sin? This is a question many believers ask. But too often, they provide their own answer of no.

But, the Lord does not condemn us for sin - He has forgotten it. What remains are the consequences of our wrong actions. If we turn to God, He will soothe our soul and guide us safely through the painful fallout. Under His influence, pain is bearable and serves to make faith stronger.

Remember the woman dragged before Jesus by the Pharisees? She had been caught in adultery, which was a clear violation of the Law. The religious leaders were prepared to throw stones, but Jesus spoke to her with compassion. Although He in no way condoned her sin, He did recognize that she was already facing consequences for her unwise choices. He forgave her, saying, "Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11 KJV).

Nothing we do can separate us from the love of God. One way He expresses that love is through the promise of comfort when we hurt, even when the pain is self - inflicted. We can allow shame to chase us away from the Father's loving arms... convinced He would not give encouragement to one who disobeyed. Or, we can believe Scripture when it tells us, He is "the Father of mercies and God of all comfort..."(2 Corinthians 1:3)

OUR SOURCE OF COMFORT
Mood:  hug me
Topic: 2 Corinthians 1:3 - 7
The world's definition of comfort is a life without suffering or despair. But the Lord has a different view. The hardship He allows in a believer's life is a teaching tool. We mature spiritually when we exercise trust and faith. So, our Father does not remove the cause of our troubles. Instead, He gives us the encouragement and strength to work through them.

Whether we're in immediate pain or not, the Holy Spirit is available to us. God sent His Spirit to dwell within everyone who believes. That means, our source of help is as close as our own beating heart. Nobody else understands our need the way He does. When we feel unable to bear one more second of difficulty, He whispers into our soul, "Yes, you can... because I am here." There's no healing balm like the soft voice of God's Spirit.

In some circumstances, the Spirit will direct our minds to Scripture. Reading an appropriate passage is a way to hear directly from the Lord. This is one of the reasons Dr. Stanley encourages reading the Bible during times of trial. A scripture verse may not have personal meaning and application immediately, but God will bring it to mind when it is most needed.

The day someone receives Christ, he or she is sealed as God's child. The Lord can't break His promises. He has said, "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). God will not allow us to be hurt any more than He knows we can stand. He's ever - present to help us. His comfort is available and adequate to meet our need, whatever the level of pain.

FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS
Mood:  lyrical
Topic: 1 John 1:3 - 4, 6 - 7
We need one another. More importantly we need Jesus. However, the way we love the Lord exemplifies the way we love one another.

God created us for fellowship, and without it, something inside of us dies. Fellowship with other believers is breath and life to the Christian.

Therefore, if you want a deeper, more satisfying relationship with the Lord, learn to establish godly friendships with others who share your love for Jesus Christ. Don't be overly concerned with the depth of the relationship. Some people long for friendships and seek to build relationships that run deep and are emotionally binding. This can be constraining.

Instead, as you are beginning to work on your friendships with others, draw closer to the Lord. Ask Him to uncover any difficult areas of your personality that may unknowingly block others from getting closer to you.

As you open your heart to the Lord in prayer, He will make more of Himself known to you. Love begins here in the presence of God. Once you experience this unconditional love, you will find yourself wanting to share it with others, not just as an evangelistic tool but as a means of knowing and loving others who worship the Savior.

It is good to have friends from many walks of life. But let the pattern for your deeper relationships begin and end with a sincere love for Jesus Christ.

THE PROCESS OF CHRISTLIKENESS
Mood:  hug me
Topic: Romans 8:28 - 30
You've heard the saying, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, in the case of man and God, it's true. We please and honor the Lord when we try to be like Him. In Romans chapter eight, the apostle Paul lays out the process God uses to transform believers into reflections of Himself.

Starting in verse 29, Paul writes about those the Lord foreknew. Foreknowledge involves more than simply seeing events in advance. It also includes bringing to pass whatever the Lord desires for His children's lives. Foreknowledge specifically involves conforming believers to His image. God has a plan for which He sees the beginning, middle, and end.

Paul also wrote that all believers are predestined. God knew before Creation who would choose to receive salvation and who would reject it. All those who are saved are predestined to be formed in His image.

Verse 30 tells us that believers are also called. God places on the heart a desire to know Him. The call goes out to every person because it is not the Lord's will that any should perish. However, few will act upon His offer and seek salvation. (John 3:16; Matthew 7:14)

Paul also explains that Christians are justified. Whoever hears God's call and receives salvation is declared no longer guilty. The stain of sin is wiped away.

And finally, we learn that those made holy by the blood of Christ are glorified. Living believers regard themselves as becoming like Jesus. But the Father sees them in their future imperishable bodies - as perfect reflections of Himself.

Humans think of time in segments. But God doesn't operate that way. That's why He can foreknow His children in their glory. And everything He allows into a Christian's life is designed to shape him or her into a glorious reflection of Himself.

GOD IS LOVE
Mood:  hug me

The First John 4 says, "God is love.” If you remember nothing else I say, remember this:  God loves you.  No matter what you've done, no matter what your past, no matter how great your sins are, God loves you.  He loves you with an everlasting love.  You cannot understand it, neither can I, that He could take a sinner like me, somebody who has broken His laws and sinned against Him and love me and forgive me and give mercy and pardon.

You can experience God’s mercy and pardon when you repent and come to him through faith in Jesus Christ.
