Topic: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
My friend Sally and I both needed exercise, so we decided to walk together regularly. For months I had taken her to my church Bible study to help her hear the truth and break away from the cult she was following. One morning as we walked, I learned that during the summer Bible study recess, she'd slipped back into her former pattern. Didn't she understand the danger of their false teaching?
My sister and I invited Sally over for lunch to share our concerns with her. As we talked, she opened up. "I feel like there's a spiritual battle raging inside me every day--a battle for my soul. I don't know what to believe."
We prayed, "Lord, remove Sally's deception and open her eyes to Your truth." Sensing her confusion, I brought her a book explaining this cult.
As we began our walk the next day, Sally was eager to talk. "I read until 2:00 this morning and finished the book."
"You did?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes. Then I wrote a long letter to the woman who taught me, renouncing my association with their religion. The book gave me suggestions for what to say."
"I'm thrilled!" I exclaimed. My joy overflowed. What a privilege to be used by God to bring the message of reconciliation and peace to a searching friend.
The important work of reconciliation was completed through Christ's death and resurrection. Now, as his ambassadors, we share this good news with others. God makes his appeal through us: "Be reconciled to God" (v. 20b).
Are you willing to ask God today to show you someone who He wants to reconcile to Himself? Will you reach out to her/him?
